Dare to BE: The Meaning Behind the Name

So now that I've done a couple of posts and have kind of gotten y'all hooked (probably not but a girl can dream), I felt like it was time for me to explain my blog and the reason that I chose the name that I did and so on (because there's a reason for everything and there are NO coincidences in this world). So first of all, why did I even decide to write a blog? Well, simply because I was bored and had nothing else to do!

... that's a lie. I definitely have stuff I need to be doing and should be doing, but this is something that I really feel strongly about and enjoy doing so I definitely wouldn't stop doing it now! So, I originally made this blog for various different reasons. First of all, I made this blog when my volleyball season had just recently ended. For those who aren't familiar, volleyball took up the majority of my time for the majority of my life. So needless to say it was really weird for me to have mass amounts of free time and really nothing to fill it with. So I started looking for new and unique ways to fill my time while still being constructive. And as much as I enjoy being a ham, I hate how I sound and look on camera so a vlog was definitely out of the question... and I didn't want to become a social media influencer (especially when I don't have the followers nor the follower:following ratio to be a social media influencer), so a blog just seemed like the way to go. Plus, I've always loved writing, so why not? BUT the big problem became... what do I have to say/write that actually matters? Because I am not about to write about arbitrary things and things that don't really have an impact. So what to write about?

Well how about the greatest subject that I could ever think to write about? How about Jesus Christ and everything that He has done in my life and everything He continues to teach me daily? How about major life lessons and words of positivity in a world where those things are kind of few and far between?

So now I have a reason and I have a subject, but how in the world did I come up with the name of my blog? Honestly, that was one of the toughest things to decide once I got the other stuff sorted out. But after a while, I found some inspiration from a not-so-typical source. So, for a few years now my Nana has been getting me a new 12-month calendar as part of my Christmas (mainly because I like hanging them up for the pictures, but ya know) and the first calendar she ever got me was this motivational calendar called "Crazy Brave and Wicked Strong", and one of the months that stuck with the most (so much so that the title became my Twitter cover photo) was "Dare to be Remarkable". And of course on that calendar they talked about how we as people are remarkable as long as we allow ourselves to be. We have so much potential, and it is only limited by our minds and how we choose to view ourselves. So as I was looking and thinking, of course I used Twitter to procrastinate. And of course my cover photo was staring me in the face. And it finally hit me. "Dare to be Remarkable" was obviously too long and a little too specific. But it did get me thinking... There are a lot of times in life where we're okay with just being ordinary. We're okay with being where we are at that moment and we have absolutely no plans of becoming anything more or pushing ourselves towards any sort of growth. Not because we're necessarily okay with where we are, but we are too afraid to try and be anything different. Because change is scary and we're afraid these "new" versions of us won't be accepted by those currently in our lives. So finally, a title. DARE TO BE. "Dare to be" in and of itself, as a standalone sentence, literally means to be courageous and adventurous in the moment that you are currently living in. It means to live your truth, in this exact instant, to the fullest that you can, because you're never going to get this exact moment back. And that is a philosophy that I try to incorporate every day into my daily life. Because I promise, if you choose to live and love like that as well, you're not going to have any regrets.

So, "Dare to BE" today. Dare to live your truth in the best way that you see fit. Don't be scared of being fully you and living in the moment and the life you're given. Dare to test the limits. Dare to grow and reach your true potential as a human being in this crazy world. Dare to be kind in a time where people tend to turn the other way. Dare to love others the old fashioned way. Dare to be different. Dare to go against the grain. DARE TO BE my fellow life adventurers. You're doing amazing and I love you all so very much!
