Dare to Tell Your Story

Hey guys, I know I haven't posted in a while, and for that I am extremely sorry. As you can imagine, things are a little hectic for me right now with school being completely virtual and trying to move my work as a resident assistant virtual as well, but that is no excuse and I promise that I won't leave you hanging like that ever again!

So, even though I have not been posting and school work has attempted to kill me multiple times in the past few weeks, I have picked up a "new" hobby that I am really excited to share with you. For those who have known me for a long time (like junior high and high school days), y'all know that I really enjoy writing. Like, I enjoyed it so much that at one time I really considered becoming a full-time writer or an English teacher. Well, when I got to college and started taking classes to get ready for PT school, the only writing I had time for was what was required for my classes, and I was always too tired or too busy to really keep my hobby up. So I put the pencil down and only wrote for fun when it was in my journal and when I needed to stay sane. In other words, it was my last resort to keep me from descending all the way into the looney bin (farther than I already am, anyways).

Anyways, with this quarantine causing me to find creative ways to preserve my mental health, I have picked the pen back up and have started writing poetry! This is where you guys come in. The majority of this post is going to be some of the poems that I have already written and feel ready to share to get feedback. So I am going to post a few down below and feel free to read them and then either email me or message me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook (or whatever platform you have me on) and let me know what you think! If you like them, I'll start integrating them into my content! And feel free to be completely honest! Anyways, without further ado, here is some of my recent work straight from my iPhone notes!

Never Forget

Even in this,

the dark night

where there is no end in sight

You are guiding me

showing me that there is nothing to fear.

You grab me by the hand

and you whisper,

“My Child,

Never forget

I did not build you to fear

the dark night,

I built you to conquer it.”

These Things

Though I look to the mountains

the oceans

and the valleys

and see their beauty

and awe at their wonder,

they are not the source of my strength.

They only show me the hand

of the One

who holds my soul.

My love.

My heart.

Who made the mountains

the oceans

and the valleys

and then made me

and said

“You are more beautiful

More precious

Than all these beautiful things.”

Masterpiece

He looked at her and said, “I’m sorry, I can’t do this anymore.”

And at the time, she thought the pieces she had become now would never find their way back together.

She thought they’d never fit right again.

But, as she looked at the ground, she saw how they came together into a beautiful mosaic... and how some of her old pieces didn't belong there anymore.

So she picked up the pieces and became the mosaic she had seen laid out before her, transforming into a new and unique masterpiece- something never seen before.

And the world was never the same.

That's it for now guys! Again, feel free to leave your comments or get in touch with me to let me know what you think (PLEASE I ENCOURAGE IT HIGHLY) and I also have created a WattPad account, which has all on the poems that I have written as of right now on it. Feel free to check it out and also spread the word! I have attached the link at the bottom of this post for easy access. As always, I love each and every one of y'all so very much and I pray that you are staying safe during this season of unknown. I am praying for everyone, and if you have anything you specifically want me to pray for, or if you want to keep it an unspoken request, DO NOT HESITATE to let me know. I want to be here for y'all in any and every way possible. Stay blessed, and dare to tell your story. No matter what form it takes or how scary it may be. You never know who you could impact (I'll be fleshing this out in a "Part 2" of this post. Don't you worry!)

And LASTLY:

WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT!!!!!
